Literature Review A summary of literature on economic impact of tourism has been depicted throughout this review to explore the methodologies used and their uses in estimating the economic impact of tourism. There is a need to conduct economic impact analysis of tourism – as tourism activity cannot be regarded as an isolated economic activity. In The Economic Importance of the Arts in Great Britain Myerscough (1988) demonstrated, through use of the multiplier, that direct spending on the arts led to spending in other sectors of the economy, which in turn enhanced wealth and job creation, and made cities appear more attractive to citizen and companies. The author points out some of the far-reaching impacts on the cultural sector and increased need for public funding. Policymakers have argued cultural industries can make an effective contribution to wealth creation, invisible exports and employment. Their potential for transforming many areas of existing practice, inspiring new producers, and for providing skills and competencies such as innovation, originality, creativity and problem-solving which could be effectively fostered for regional and local economies, was increasingly recognised (Reeves, 2002:10). Alexander Hamilton Alexander Hamilton was a great man that will be remembered for being a great major general of the armed forces of the United States of America. As well as the secretary of the treasury. In 1769, at twelve years old he had a job as a clerk in a general store and Alexander dreaded spending the rest of his life there. He wanted something more for his future. He wished for a war to occur. He wanted to prove himself to be more worthy then a clerk. To his thinking, only some brilliant and heroic act on the battle field would give me a chance to achieve his hopes. He seemed to be doomed to a life of clerking. For one thing, he was at the bottom of a social ladder. Elizabeth Proctor Essay Abigail is a very powerful girl and the other girls are obviously afraid of her. It is clear that Abigail is out for revenge against Elizabeth Proctor. She wants her arrested and blamed as a witch so badly that she stabs herself in the stomach just so she can say she has put a spell on her and wants her dead. Elizabeth is then arrested on her evidence. Proctor is pushed to his limits having to stand up in court for his wife. This is one example of how much he stands by his principles. Standing up in court could result in death if he slips up. This shows Johns good character as his pride will be greatly crushed by confessing to adultery, as well as the fact that Elizabeth will find out. Being honest is a strong personal quality which John did not seem to have earlier in the play. Proctors journey of self discovery is unfolding at this point. John stands up in court and it is clear that his confession to sleeping with Abigail is a great test of faith for him. This is one of the hardest things that he would ever have to go through. She lies in court, defending her husbands name not knowing that John has just confessed. The audience are aware of Johns confession which shows dramatic irony. Proctor now knows his life his collapsing, He is then arrested after being accused of being in league with the devil antagonised by Abby.  John and Elizabeth are allowed some time together supervised by members of the court.  Elizabeth tries to get John to confess, but he only asks her what she would do in his situation. I would have your forgiveness, Elizabeth. She replies that it is not up to her to forgive him. John Proctor is given the chance to save himself by condemning his friends and other members of the community. He refuses to testify showing he is no longer afraid of standing up for what he believes in. I speak my own sins; I cannot judge another, he states. Proctor is then asked to sign his confession which gives him much suffering. Eventually he is persuaded and agrees. However, the lie soon gets to him.
